Thanksgiving and Remembering
A reminder to all that on 6th November at 6pm, we will be
holding our Thanksgiving and Remembering Service at Oakham Methodist
Church. This service is an opportunity to reach out into our local
communities in a specific way. There will be publicity sent to
churches nearer the time including invitation leaflets, but this is
to enable you to make a note of the date, and think of anyone for
whom this service would be helpful. Personal letters of invitation
will be sent to family members of all who have had a funeral service
taken in our circuit churches during the past year.

What's In A Name?
I am delighted to
inform friends around the circuit that the Lincolnshire District Synod
meeting on Saturday 17th September formally agreed to the merger of the
Stamford & Lincolnshire Circuit with the South Lincolnshire Circuit. The
merger now needs ratification from the Methodist Council and the Methodist
Conference of 2017 – I will be there in person to make sure it does!! We can
now look forward to a shared future of exciting mission and ministry as we
work together as sisters and brothers in Christ to make God’s love known in
the communities we serve. We aim to merge in September 2017. We have 2
special services which I trust will be well attended as we say farewell to
the Stamford & Rutland Circuit and commission the ‘New Circuit’: Sunday 16th
July 2017 6pm Ryhall Methodist Church A service to thank God for the life
and witness of the Stamford & Rutland Circuit Preacher: Rev Brian Lewis
Brian was the Superintendent Minister when the circuit came into being and
it is right and proper that he should preach at its final Circuit Service.
We will also commission Rev (Major) Roy Burley for Circuit ministry as he
leaves Army Chaplaincy following 15 years of service. Sunday 3rd September
2017 Circuit service to commission the ‘New Circuit’ Time and venue to be
announced. Preacher: Rev Gareth Powell, Secretary of the Methodist

New Methodist Church magazine
Methodist Church are publishing a new magazine "The Connexion", and
for the next issue they are asking for stories about use of "The
Arts" in Mission. The crucial part of the theme is "in
mission" because they want to highlight where the creative energy
within churches and circuits is winning people for Christ; whether
through fine art, music, drama or something else.
